American Family Auto Insurance Company of Arizona
The American Family Insurance Group began in Wisconsin when Herman Wittwer, an insurance salesman, used his knowledge and expertise to change Wisconsin’s insurance market. Wittwer realized that farmers were lower risk drivers than city drivers because farmers drove less and put their vehicles on blocks during the winter. This led Wittwer to start Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in October of 1927.
Throughout the growth of rural lands to metropolitan cities, customer needs began changing making the insurance company change too. In 1963 Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company became American Family Mutual Insurance Company and started expanding across the nation.
Currently, American Family operates in 18 states, including Arizona. Arizona residents can benefit from coverage for cars and trucks, motorcycles, motor homes, boats and snowmobiles.
